Colorado Sleep Apnea

Are you suffering from sleep apnea? If so, there is a simple and effective non-surgical remedy that may help.

Here's an explanation of the problem we're dealing with. When you sleep, your tongue becomes relaxed. If this relaxation causes it to impinge on your breathing passage, the soft tissues will vibrate as you try to breathe. In other words, it causes snoring.   How the tongue causes snoring
If it impinges even more, it can completely obstruct the passageway. This is a condition called sleep apnea. Breathing is actually interrupted, causing oxygen deprivation. That it turn interrupts your sleep. You will be in bed all night but in the morning you will still be tired.   How relaxation of the tongue causes sleep apnea
Mandibular advancement appliances, such as those provided by Dr. Rota, pull the lower jaw forward, opening up the breathing passages.   Colorado Springs sleep apnea solution

The SomnoMed Appliance for Sleep Apnea

The SomnoMed appliance simply re-positions the lower jaw in a slightly protrusive position. In almost all cases, this will eliminate your snoring, and it will usually eliminate or greatly reduce your obstructive apnea. If you are obese, it is less likely to work. But if you are of normal weight or moderately overweight, the likelihood that this will solve your problem is high.

Insurance Coverage for Sleep Apnea

In many cases, your SomnoMed appliance will be covered by medical insurance. In order to get insurance coverage, we may want to arrange for you to get a prescription from your physician.
