Here's an explanation of the problem we're dealing with. The diagram on the right shows a normal breathing passage while you're asleep. It is open and unobstructed.
Sometimes, however, the soft tissue at the base of the tongue impinges on this breathing passage, causing snoring.
If it impinges even more, it can completely obstruct the passageway. This is a condition called obstructive sleep apnea.

The SomnoMed Appliance for Sleep Apnea

The SomnoMed appliance simply re-positions the lower jaw in a slightly protrusive position. In almost all cases, this will eliminate your snoring, and it will usually eliminate or greatly reduce your obstructive apnea. If you are obese, it is less likely to work. But if you are of normal weight or moderately overweight, the likelihood that this will solve your problem is high.
